BIO

JOSH BEN-AMI is a musical theater/pop songwriter living in Manhattan. His debut album, Pivot, was released on January 12, 2023. His songs for It’s Christmas, Witch most recently won the 48 Hour Film Project Award for Best Music. Josh composed the score for Maya’s Mother, a short-form musical, with book and lyrics by James Martinez Salem. He and James also wrote #Masc4Masc: A Totally Masculine Musical, a full-length musical comedy. Josh is a co-host of the queer film podcast Is This Movie, You Know… His work has been performed at Dixon Place and The Duplex, and he is a 2021 Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award nominee. He is a graduate of the Gallatin school at New York University, and received an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at Tisch School of the Arts in 2020. Proud member of ASCAP. He is currently working on a concept album and a series of video essays.
